Regular Course (Two-year program with certificate awarded each year)

The Regular Course is targeted at foreigners and Koreans interested in translating Korean literature and is held during weekdays. Screenings are conducted separately for general and fellowship students.

Languages
  • English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese
Duration
  • Two-year program (4 semesters): Autumn Semester (September ~ December) / Spring Semester (March ~ June) ※ The course begins in September.
  • The entire program takes 48 weeks to complete (12 weeks per semester)
  • Classes are held on weekdays between 09:00 and 18:00.
Curriculum
  • 9 hours per week for general students/ 15 hours per week for first-year & 12 hours per week for second-year fellowship students
  • 1st Year : Translation of Korean Literature, Study of Translation Styles, Introduction to Korean Literature, Korean Culture, Korean Language (3 hours per week)
  • 2nd Year : Translation of Korean Literature, Study of Translation Styles, Korean Literature, Korean Culture (3 hours per week)

    ※ The Korean Culture and Korean Language classes are for international students only.

  • Common Activities: Meetings with Writers, Cultural Excursions, etc.
Admissions6~8 students for each language (3~4 students will be selected for the LTI Korea Translation Academy Fellowship)

※ Fellowship students are not allowed to work or engage in commercial activities during their stay in Korea.

LTI Korea Translation Academy Fellowship
EligibilityKoreans and foreigners interested in translating Korean literature who can attend the course for two years. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree.

※ In place of the translation test, fellowship applicants will be asked to submit a translation sample and will be interviewed over the phone.

  • Other documents: documents to verify qualifications mentioned in the application form (e.g. certificate of enrollment, academic transcripts, valid TOPIK certificate, etc.)
