LTI Korea Translation Academy Call for Applications for the LTI Korea Translation Academy Regular Course The LTI Korea Translation Academy offers various courses for aspiring translators of Korean literature from around the world. Designed for Koreans and non-Koreans who are interested in translating Korean literature, the Regular Course was earlier offered as a one-year program. With the vision of transforming the Academy into a graduate school of translation, we are expanding the Regular Course into a two-year course, starting this year. The course is scheduled to begin in September 2015 for the academic years 2015–2017. Interested graduates of the old Regular Course can also apply and receive a certificate of completion for the two-year Course by studying for the academic year, 2015–2016. We are looking for talented applicants who will rise to the challenge of translating Korean literature, thereby contributing to the growth of its global readership. LTI Korea Translation Academy Fellowship The LTI Translation Academy Fellowship is open to native speakers of any of the following languages: English, French, German, Russian or Spanish. This fellowship is designed to allow foreign students to devote themselves fully to their study of literary translation during their stay in Korea. The fellowship includes: Round-trip airfare, monthly stipend of 1.6 million KRW, visa and health insurance, tuition waiver, help in finding housing About the Program ■ Languages: English, French, German, Russian, Spanish ■ Eligibility: - 1st Year: Foreigners interested in translating Korean literature - 2nd Year: Students who have completed the old one-year Regular Course can receive a certificate of completion for the two-year course by studying for an additional year. ※ Fellowship recipients are ineligible to apply for scholarships offered by other organization while studying at the Academy. ■ Number of Fellowships: 3–4 in each language / 2 graduates of the old one-year Regular Course ■ Curriculum: Translation of Korean Literary Texts, Study of Translation Styles, Korean Literature, Korean Culture, Korean Language - The program also offers other literary activities such as meetings with Korean writers and cultural excursions. ■ Faculty: Professors of literature, translation, Korean language and culture ■ Duration: September 2015–June 2017 (September 2015–June 2016 for graduates of the old Regular Course) - 1st Year: September 2015–June 2016 - 2nd Year: September 2016–June 2017 (Fall Semester: September–December /Spring Semester: March–June) How to Apply ■ Application Documents: application form and personal statement written in Korean, a letter of recommendation, sample translation of the designated literary work, and a certificate of Bachelor's degree -The application and personal statement forms, and the letter of recommendation form can be downloaded from the LTI Korea website.
