The Japanese cover of the novel features a faceless woman, inviting readers to rediscover their personal stories through their experience with Kim Ji-young Born in 1982. Japanese readers’ active responses to Cho’s novel on social media shows the capacity of literature to evoke empathy across borders, and paints an optimistic picture for the power of Korean literature.
