2023 Korean Literature Review Contest Winners Announcement
□ Overall assessment
On October 18, 2023, the second round of judging for the '2023 Korean Literature Review Contest' was held. The agenda of the judging included evaluating 17 top works (5 in report/drawing and 7 in video) out of 160 works that passed the first round of language-based judging. The goal was to determine 3 grand prize winners in each category and finalize the rankings of 1st to 3rd place in each language and category. The judging panel consisted of three judges: Professor Lee Hye-jin from Semyung University, Professor Kim Kyung-soo from Sogang University's Korean Language and Literature Department, and literary critic In-A Yeong, along with LTI Korea staffs.
*Both first place winners in Spanish and Arabic had tied scores.
1. Selection of 3 Grand Prize Winners by Category:
The judging was conducted through quantitative evaluation. Criteria for judging included relevance to the theme (30 points), creativity (25 points), expression (25 points), feasibility (15 points), and outstanding community participation (5 points). The winners were selected based on the highest average scores in each category.
2. Selection of 1st to 3rd Place Winners by Category/Language:
Excluding the 3 works selected as grand prize winners by category, the remaining works were ranked based on their scores in the first round of language-based judging. The top works were then selected for 1st to 3rd place in each category and language. (1st place: 1 person, 2nd place: 2 people, 3rd place: 5 people) However, works with an average score of less than 60 points in the first round of language-based judging were excluded from the winners. In the event of a tie for first place in the first round of language-based judging, the winners were selected based on their scores in the second round of judging. In cases of further ties, the same rank was assigned. In some language categories in the video section, there were fewer submissions, and many were disqualified in the preliminary judging stage for not meeting the judging criteria. Therefore, it was decided to award the final 106 out of the originally planned 123 winners.
